UNITY, Everyday chair

Unity takes its form from the dual concept of movement and stability, inspired by the various positions that the human body takes in order to achieve comfort. It is meant to not only be an object of great function but to also create an important presence in the space. As a result, this chair embodies the intersections between space, object and human body.

The design is inspired by the posture of the human body, where form is created by blending the stability and mobility of the body through opposing geometries in the metal structure. The aim was to create an everyday object representing the stillness that follows daily mobility, finding balance while embracing the body through its “uneven arms.” The use of a flexible material like leather, manifests the combination of stability and mobility that contrasts the chair’s rigid metal frame.
