Originally composed of small, disconnected rooms including a separate entrance hall, kitchen, and living room — the apartment felt constrained and compartmentalized. We removed interior walls to create a single open-plan living area, dramatically increasing the sense of space and light while aligning the home with modern living standards. In homage to the building’s history, we preserved and restored the original flooring: terrazzo in the circulation areas and wood parquet in a herringbone pattern in the living spaces. These materials serve as a tactile link to the past, grounding the otherwise contemporary intervention in its Athenian context.
